Heavy Tungsten Alloy Rivet is a heavy tungsten alloy because they weigh more than twice as much as steel. High specific gravity tungsten alloys are usually refractory metals containing tungsten-Ni-Fe, tungsten-Ni-Cu, or tungsten-Ni-Cu-Fe complexes. Some tungsten alloys have added rare earths and/or other metals, such as cobalt, molybdenum and chromium. Heavy tungsten alloys have a high melting point, are twice as dense as steel and more than 50 percent heavier than lead.

What is Heavy Tungsten Alloy Rivet?

  1. Rivet is a permanent mechanical fastener. Before installation, it consists of a smooth cylindrical shaft with a head at one end. The end opposite the head is called Buck's tail. For installation, place the rivets in a punch or pre-drilled hole. The tail was then "upset" (that is, deformed) so that it swelled to about 1.5 times the diameter of the original shaft and the rivets were held in place. To distinguish the two ends of the rivet, the original head is called the factory head and the deformed end is called the shop head or Barker tail.
